So today I had to but up, out the door half way across the city to drop Dan off and then at a restaurant downtown by 9am. Hence I didn't get my run in the morning. When I got home at noon I could run, because Sophie was sleeping and then by 5pm I left to go pick up Dan in Gatineau. So, I ended up leaving for my long run of 6 miles at 7pm. I kept telling myself that no matter what I have to run every day. If I miss a day I don't think I'll forgive myself and/or I'll probably let myself miss another day.
Stats today: 6 miles, 9.91km in 59:00mins, avg pace 5:57/km burned 892 cal, fairly easy run, I started on the run, took a fairly even and consistent pace and stayed that way for the whole run. Just an easy run. I'm pretty pleased with my avg pace as it's below 6/km. Really need to hold that for all future runs.
Looking forward to an easy little run tomorrow to rest my legs. They are getting pretty tiered these days.

Hi Laura, well, again I guess I will try another tact with you and your not willing to rest and let your body rejuvenate.
ReplyDeleteRemember when you where young and I took you out on some runs and told you that the human body is the must magnificent creation in the world as we know it.
If this is true then the least we can do is listen to it. It will tell us if it needs to work out, whether that workout should be easy or a fast tempo, whether you need to rest for awhile, or maybe even sleep for awhile. Laura, some of us have a keen sense of listening to our body. With running experience and studying our body on every run we do get to realize that listening to our body can save us a great deal of pain and give us great satisfaction for what it can do for us if we only listen and let us guide us. Not a real hard thing to do.
I know exactly what you are thinking, that if you take a day off, you might not be motivated to go out again a day or two later. Not so. The fact is that now that you got your 21 days plus in, you will be itching to get back after it in a couple of days. Try it. Yes, you will notice you will feel a little sluggish the first day back but the next day you wil run like the wind.
Come on Honey, you can do it. Take a day off. We will all be proud of you and look forward to your elation of how fast you are now and how refreshed you feel.
Good luck, Dad
Every time I read your blog it inspires me to want to run...key word - want! I pulled my quad at soccer last night in the rain so I guess that running won't be happening any time soon. Be careful! Don't strain yourself or be too hard on yourself if you miss ONE day. A day of rest is good for your muscles; it's the day they grow :) Anyway, just wanted to say you are doing a great job. To get out there everyday and run is an accomplishment but to do it and still take care of a busy little lady, two teens, and a man is...well...007! Love you! xoxo
