Day 41 -tiered and still running

Today's Stats: 3miles, 4.83km in 28:14, avg pace 5:51/km burned 410 cal, runs seem to be going pretty good these days but I have to say, I"m tiered and my muscles are tight. Not sure if this is normal or if I'm getting to a new level of performance but I am awfully tiered. I'm sleeping 8 hrs a night but in pain some of the hours so not sleeping a full night like I should. So I guess the only thing I can think of doing is rest whenever I can, put my feet up as my legs are super tiered and fuel my body with lots of good food. Hope to turn around soon!

  1. Hi Laura, tired? Well, read what I said yesterday. Your body is telling you that the muscles need a day to rejuvenate. So here is where I give you a science lesson ! lol. Sash, would really like this comment???
Your body is made up of billions, yes, even trillions of tiny, tiny, tiny cells. These cells all break down when you are overworking them. As you keep on running they continue to breakdown. The only time they can repair themselves and help you build new stronger cells is when you stop and let them repair, or better replace themselves with new cells. This can't happen if you are continually destroying them and not letting them replace the broken for the new. Thus making your muscles much stronger to take the continuous beating you are giving them. I'm not a scientist like your sister Sonya, but it does go something like that. She, I am sure, could elaborate even more and tell you how badly your are overworking the very mucles you think you are making stronger.
Laura, most runners don't have this discussion until they are injured and have a chat with their Doctor. I am trying to help you without any pain and downtime in your running preparations for the Marathon.
Something else which is always good, spending a little extra time with the family is a good excuse to take a day off. Do it. One day a week will make you stronger. It's good for you and yours. Cheers, Dad
